Being a Language College

As a Language College, our pupils have opportunities that others may not. Because all of our pupils learn a langauge throughout their time with us, we're able to offer a greater selection to them. That is why we do not only offer French, German and Spanish to GCSE, we also offer Italian and Mandarin.

We teach Mandarin because of our relationship with a school in China. Our relationship has developed into a series of joint curriculum projects that has enriched both our curriculum and theirs. This means that more and more of the lessons we teach throughout the curriculum have an international feel to them.

Our pupils get more and more opportunities to travel abroad. Not only do we run an exchange trip with our partner school in China, we also run trips to France, Germany, Spain and America. Our aim is that pupils have a worthwhile international experience during their time with us.

Our commitment to language learning can be seen through our improving language results. It can also be seen through the partnership work we are doing with our feeder primary schools, our local community, other secondary schools and the local sixth form colleges.
