The Year
System
All pupils are supported
by a Head of Year. The main aim of the Year system is to monitor
the progress and welfare of every child in the school. It is also
the basis for home/school contact, careers advice and community
projects.
The House System
The main aim of the
House System is to provide competitions in a wide variety of fields
including sporting, cultural and academic activities. Trophies
will be awarded to winning Houses in each competition and individual
awards will be made to children who excel in attainment, progress
and citizenship.
There are four Houses
in the school, Brandon, Conrad, Gordon and Wallace. These names
were chosen because they belong to famous people with close connections
to the Thurrock District.
Reward Scheme
St Clere’s operates
a reward system in the form of certificates, Headteacher’s
and Governors’ awards for exceptional effort, attainment,
or progress in classwork and homework. It provides an incentive
for all pupils, encouraging increased effort and commitment to
studies, with progress in work a desired outcome across the ability
range. Consistent involvement in house matches, competitions and
form activities is also rewarded.
Exceptional performance
is marked by an award from the Jack Petchey Foundation, which
allows recipients to nominate a curriculum or enrichment area
to receive a financial contribution towards a particular project.
Pupils can also receive Endeavour Awards and have an opportunity
to go on Reward Trips.
